A Fresh Vision for 2008
Proverbs 29:18 says,"Where there is no vision, the people perish." As we begin
2008 I have asked God to give me a fresh vision. First for a fresh vision of God's
holiness. When we look into the holiness of God what is revealed is our
deficiency. We fall so far short of God's holiness that it is hopeless for us to
strive to be holy of ourselves. It is at that moment that we are humbled and ready
for grace. James 4:6 says that, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the
humble." When we get a clear vision of God, he in turn gives us a clear vision of
ourselves. After we see our sinfulness and repent we receive God's grace which
is free for the asking, then he asks something of us. Which brings me to my
second vision for 2008.
Jesus in John 4:35 said,"Say not ye, there are yet four months, and then
cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the
fields; for they are white already to harvest." We are called to take the good
news of Gods grace into the harvest field of the world. We are to share the light
of God's grace with a world that is walking in darkness. We must reach our
generation with the gospel of Christ. It is my prayer and the prayer of our church
that God would help us to reach our community. Again Jesus said in Matthew
9:37-38,"Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but
the laboureres are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will
send forth laboureres into his harvest." Would you pray with us that we can
reach the lost for Christ? In so doing, perhaps God would even lead you to join us
in the work. This is our vision at Immanuel Baptist Church.
